Childhood Community

Equivalent to Maternal in the traditional education system.

Children enter an environment of Childhood Community where they will attend until the age of 2 ½ years.  Our Childhood Community widens the possibilities for sensory, social, and psychological experiences to develop the potential of the child in a natural way, with safety and independence.  It consists of a personal process where the child asks the adult: “Help me to do it myself.”

The environment of the Childhood Community

is divided into the following areas:

Practical Life Area
In the exercises of practical life are all those activities and chores of daily life that allow us to take care of ourselves and the environment.

The appropriate activities for children from 18 to 30 months are:

-Personal care
-Caring for surroundings
a)internal
b)external
-Graces and courtesy
-Moving personal property
-Food

Proposals:
-Controlled movement
-Real activities with an intelligent purpose.
-Perfection through repetition.
-Order in all activities.
-That the child can exercise his or her freedom
-To be capable of doing activities independently.
-Helps the integration of intellect, willpower, and movement

Area of Music and Art
Music and art allow the child to express his or her emotions.  We give the child the opportunity of listening to different types of music.  We dance and sing with them.
Through real instruments or replicas the child learns its name and can identify its sound. In art the child draws and utilizes painting for expressing himself or herself.

Area of language
In the job that we hold, this area refers to the acquisition and development of spoken language.  It is when the acquisition of language, vocabulary, syntax and grammar is completed.

a) In this area we have real objects with clear classifications: fruits, vegetables, tools, and objects there are in the environment (jars, sponges, aprons, buckets, plates, etc.)
b) Replicas of animals, transport vehicles, clothing garments, different types of shoes, etc.
c) Objects with cards
d) Books
e) Songs
f) Rhymes

Area of Manipulatives
Children utilize each of their senses with the specific purpose that each of the presentations has.  This way, the little one can use scissors to cut or liquid glue to stick pictures, string beads, open and close objects, screw in and unscrew screws, assemble puzzles of geometric shapes or other objects, open or close locks, observe shapes and dimensions, etc.
